This is definitely one of our favorite photos of Apollo. Our little guy is lit here in such a way that brings out his innocence as well as his mischievousness. Always exploring and poking around, this was another time where Apollo was in the thick of things while we were working around the house. We had just returned home from the local nursery with herbs and Pacific Northwest grasses to plant on our balcony. Apollo was getting into everything so we picked him up and put him in this planter. He wasn’t really sure about being that high off the ground so he timidly poked his head out… thank goodness Daddy Jason had the camera at hand and captured the now familiar look Apollo gives us when he is into something he knows he probably shouldn’t be.
This is the second portrait Larry has done for us and he has, once again, captured what we love about this picture: the spirit of our little man. Apollo shines his own light into the universe and we don’t know what our lives would be like without him. He is our passion and our inspiration and we are honored that Larry was also inspired by his spirit captured in this photo. The picture is all about light and that is what Apollo is… our light from darkness. For those of our friends who know what that past year has been like for us, you know of what we speak. Thank you Larry for reflecting the light from our little man for all the world to see. We love you Apollo… shine on little man…
All our love, always,
your Daddy Shannon & Daddy Jason
You can read about Ares to learn why Apollo is so special to Shannon and Jason. They really have had a rough year and I am glad Apollo is there to help them heal. Thanks for sharing, I know it wasn’t easy…
I instantly knew I would draw this when I saw the photo – the lighting is superb!

Thank you to everyone for the posts here and on Dogster. We are thrilled to have this opportunity to share our little guy with the world in such a unique way.
Thank you also to Larry for this honor. This is our second boy you have done a portrait for and we could not ask for any finer representation. As always, you captured the spirit of our little guy wonderfully. You are truly an artist of the soul.
Now we have two of Larry’s portraits for our walls… we’re definitely one family of lucky dogs!!
